Ski in Luxury This Winter

By:

In addition to the thrill of rocketing down the world’s mountains, a ski vacation should be steeped in luxury and pampering when you’re not on the slopes. Here are a few of our favorite resort destinations with some insights into what to look for from them.

Badrutt’s Palace Hotel
St. Moritz, Switzerland

You can’t talk about skiing and not mention the Alps where the sport was born. Badrutt’s Palace Hotel is the most prominent hotel in St. Moritz. It is still owned by the family that created winter tourism there when its founder built the first half pipe luge/skeleton/bobsled run. it offers private skiing lessons at every level. And because women can’t just live on skiing alone, there are luxurious spas, a theater, a disco, and a driving range.

Snake River Lodge and Spa
Teton Village, Wyoming

Located at the base of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, the Snake River Lodge and Spa is a must for luxury travelers. There are 2,500 acres of skiing terrain available on two mountains. In addition, guests can access the resort’s tram via a private, heated walkway.

Executive rooms feature king-sized beds, separate sitting areas, gas fireplaces and jetted bathtubs. In addition to massage and water treatments, the five-story Avanyu spa has a unique indoor-outdoor heated pool with waterfalls and a hot tub.

St Regis
Aspen, Colorado

For anyone residing in the US, the Colorado Rocky Mountains are the mountains for skiers. Covered in fluffy white snow, they offer a perfect destination for skiing throughout much of the year.

The St Regis, centrally located at the foot of the Aspen mountain, features 179 luxurious rooms and suites. Try to book one of the two loft suites, which are well-equipped with open fireplaces, Pratesi linens, flat-screen TVs and full entertainment systems. Wireless Internet allows you to “surf” away when you’re not speeding down the slopes.

Hoteldorf Grüner Baum
Bad Gastein, Austria

The home of Mozart and schnitzel is also one of the prime skiing locations in the world. And the Hoteldorf Grüner Baum, located is inside the renowned Bad Gastein ski resort in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park, is one of the premium places to stay when you go. The experience is nothing short of idyllic, from the view to the pampering and other features of Austrian hospitality.

The hotel offers a unique service called i-concierge that provides guests with i-Pads, specially equipped with detailed information about the facilities and the surrounding area. The Thermal Natural Spa features a pool, sauna, steam bath and gym with cosmetic treatments, soothing baths and relaxing massage.
