It took six trunks, a Chinese visa and more than a little “wit and will” but I’m here to explore this electric, fashion-forward Middle Kingdom City.
I had the great good fortune to be invited by Elite Models to be their Couture and Culture Correspondent for the 29th Elite Model Look World Final. As someone who’s studied and collected vintage couture for years, I’ve been able to amass what I consider one of the most beautiful collections in the world.
That collection will be the basis for a boot camp I’ll be holding for the girls to provide some insights into the fashion world they’re entering. I’ll be talking to them about what they’re wearing, why they’re wearing it and how to find that inner muse that will help them reach the Super Model status they aspire to.
Eight of the girls will also have the opportunity to model some of my pieces – including dresses by Alexander McQueen, Marcel Rochas, Christian Lacroix, Paco Rabbane and Ralph Rucci.
I am looking forward to helping these girls secure their bright futures while exploring the bright lights of Shanghai.
